August 4, 2023 – A Dallas couple were arrested after a traffic stop on I-30 this week. AMARRHE RASHSON THOMPSON aka marrhe_peezy and NIEJEL DEVON LAKES were transported to Hopkins County Jail.
Hopkins County Sheriff’s Deputies noticed a Nissan Kicks traveling eastboard with an obscured licence plate. A traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle came to rest near the 122 mile marker.
Deputies nocted a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. The occupants were asked to exit the vehicle, and a probable cause search was began.
Marijuana cigarette ends were found in the ashtray. A GLOCK 23 handgun was found under the driver’s seat. A Smith and Wesson M&P 9, reported stolen by Mesquite Tx Police, was found in the passenger’s purse. A backpack containing various narcotics was also found.
Both professed no knowledge of the drugs. Thompson stated that she had purchased the stolen handgun from someone but could not remember who. Both were arrested and transported to Hopkins County Jail.
The backpack contained: scales, marijuana, 99 blue M30 pills suspected to be Oxycontin which showed a total approximate weight of 10.82 grams and suspected MDMA tabs with a total approximate weight including packaging of 2.68 grams with a pill count of 6.

Their bond was set at $45,000 each. The Nissan was impounded.
