Funeral service for Herbert Lee Anderson of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Ed Lantz, Jason Dietz and Brant Small officiating. Interment will follow at Shooks Chapel Cemetery with Brant Small, Dustin Small, Landon Johnson, Laine Anderson, Troy Nunnery, Sean Dennis, Don Sapaugh and Lee Teetes serving as pallbearers. Honorary pall bearers will be the City National Bank of Directors. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Anderson passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs.

Herbert was born on November 9, 1934, in Sulphur Springs, Texas to O.H. Anderson and Annie Laura Bruton Anderson. He married Shirley Lou Morgan in Arlington, Texas on July 23, 1955, at the home of Shirley’s sister and from this marriage they had four children. Herbert had a very successful and accomplished career, working as a dairyman. He served in the Texas National Guard, was a founding board member for City National Bank for over 35 years, original member of the Sheriff’s Posse in Hopkins County, agriculturist of the year and served as the former state president of the Young Farmers Association. He loved horses and was a member of the AQHA and NCHA. Herbert was a faithful member of the Methodist faith starting from his childhood at Shooks Chapel Methodist Church. Although he had many hobbies and joys in life, his greatest blessing was his family, who he loved dearly.

Herbert is survived by his wife of almost 68 years, Shirley; children, Emily Small and husband Doug, Morgan Anderson and wife Kim, Angela Johnson and husband Tim; grandchildren, Dustin Small, Brant Small and wife Melissa, Brittany Nunnery and husband Troy, Laine Anderson and wife Julie, Kaylee Anderson, Lexi Anderson, Logan Delphon, Lynsey Dennis and husband Sean, Landon Johnson and 13
great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cindy Castro; sister, Laura Jean Maxey; brothers, James Anderson and Cliff Anderson.
