On Thursday evening at approximately 8:20 PM, a great soldier for Christ passed away in a very graceful manner surrounded by friends, family, and his health care providers at the Sodalis Senior Care Facility in Lake Jackson, TX. Aubrey was born on March 25th, 1933, to the family of George Carter Washington & Maudie Bell Washington. Aubrey was educated in Sulphur Springs Public Schools and went on to attend Butler College in Tyler, TX. He served his country in the United States Army. His service sent him to Korea & Japan, where he was Honorably Discharged (formally in March 1961).

Aubrey’s greatest love was people. He enjoyed working around all people and just sitting down to have a good conversation. Aubrey worked at Jim Masters Western store in his young adult life and went on to work in the Oil & Gas industry for 23 years as an Operator, but his all-time favorite job was working at his resale shop. He would always say the greatest gift that God gave man was the ability to communicate. He had an ability to join a crowd and just start visiting (he never met a stranger). Aubrey served his community on the Sulphur Springs City Council and served one term as Mayor. He loved the Sulphur Springs Community and everywhere went he would tell people where he was from.

Aubrey married Lillian Black on June 16th, 1956, and to that union there were two sons and a daughter born; Willie Andre Washington, Ashley Earl Washington and Ruth Nicole Mignon Washington.
Aubrey was a member of the Church of Christ on Martin Luther King Drive, where he served as Elder, and was a member of the Southside Church of Christ where he served as a deacon. Aubrey loved God’s word and the power of God’s word when it fell on the hearts of men and women. Aubrey always carried a pad in his pocket and would jot down things during the day that would later be used in a Wednesday night lesson. Aubrey enjoyed family & friends and would always have something cooking on the grill.

He was preceded in death by his parents G.C. Washington & Maudie Bell Washington, brother; Troas Ben Washington; mother and father-in-law Richard & Ivey Inez Black daughter Ruth Nicole Mignon Washington, and daughter-in-law Janice Washington.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lillian Washington, (Sugar Land, TX), his two sons Andre (late-Janice) Washington (Sugar Land, TX); Ashley (JoAnn) Washington (Lake Jackson, TX)- three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives & friends.
