There will be no formal visitation. Peggy passed away on October 7, 2022, at her residence, after a two-year battle with cancer.

Peggy was born on August 20, 1938, in Winters, Texas, to Andes Emmitt Simpson Jr. and Effie Irene Jennings. She married Walter L McWhirter on June 10, 1954, in Winters, Texas. Walt worked the West Texas oilfields; they eventually ended up in Big Spring, Texas. Walt passed away in February 1975. Peggy went to work for Dr. Don McGonagill at Texas State Optical shortly after that and worked there until she retired in 1986. While in Big Spring, Peggy was a member of Baptist Temple Church.

While working at Texas State Optical, Peggy met James (Jim) Elvis Tully of Snyder, Texas. They married on May 5, 1986, and made their home in Snyder. Peggy worked part-time at the local fabric store. She was an active member of Eastside Church of Christ.

Jim and Peggy moved to Sulphur Spring and have called it home since 1995. She was a member of
League Street Church of Christ. She was actively involved in the clothing room and card-writing on
Wednesday nights.

Peggy’s passion included shopping at Canton with her sisters, affectionately known to all as “The Sisters,” enjoying time with friends, and doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by son, Randy McWhirter of Seguin; daughters, Terri Lynch and husband Ernest of
McKinney, Gina Bruton and husband Derrick of McKinney, and Susan Tully Pate Adams of Katy;

Bruton of Dripping Springs; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Charley, and Jace, all of Haslet. She is also
survived by “The Sisters,” Sharon Jones and husband Pinky of Stanton, Cynthia Barbarian of Baird, and
Becky Jones and husband Tommy of Millsap.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmitt and Irene; and step-mother, Rosa Lee Simpson;
husband, James (Jim) Tully; brothers, Billy Wayne Simpson, Andy Simpson, and Richard Simpson; and
sister, Linda Roberts.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the League Street Church of Christ Youth Fund (1100 South League Street, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75482).

The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the family at League Street Church of Christ for looking after her this past year with visits, calls, and fellowship. Those special times meant the world to
