Ernest Tinsley VanWey

A funeral service for Ernest Tinsley VanWey, age 87, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2022, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Chaplin Cody Rush officiating and Bro John London assisting. Interment will follow at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Lonnie Taylor, Jerry Crawford, David Pullium, Caleb VanWey, Will VanWey and Bobby Moody serving as pallbearers; and Ronnie Randolph, Heath Halbert and Heaton Halbert serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. VanWey passed away on August 21, 2022, at his residence.

Ernest was born on June 11, 1935, to William E. and Florence Lavada (Pinson) VanWey. He married Billie Alice Landreth in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Ernie was a master plumber for 55 years and owned his own plumbing company. His office was the Pit Grill. Ernie went every morning. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sons, William G VanWey and wife, Sandra, and Ralph Hutcherson Jr.; daughter, Stephanie Halbert; stepsons, Ronnie Hutcherson and Ralph Hutcherson; stepdaughter, Sherry Woodall; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jo Dan, Powell, Earl, William Jr. and Martha Jo.

Donations made be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
