Graveside service for Roy Furguson, age 86, of Cumby, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Ridgeway Cemetery. Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service at the cemetery. Mr. Furguson passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021, at Carriage House Manor in Sulphur Springs.
Roy was born on September 26, 1935, in Irving, Texas, to Lemyel and Connie (Knight) Furguson. He married Tess Evans on January 21, 1956. Roy worked at Texas Instruments in Dallas, before moving to the country, where he would be in the dairy business for twenty plus years, after which time he grew vegetables that he marketed at the Dallas Farmers Market for more than thirty years. Roy spent the last twelve years operating a wild hog buying station.
He is survived by his wife, Tess; daughters, Glenda Hickman of Cumby, Susan Furguson of Cumby, and Diana Abbott and husband Terry of Princeton; son, Mike and wife, Linda, of Terrell; grandsons, Travis and Jake and wife, Becca; granddaughter, Madison; brother, George and wife, Aquilla, of Flower Mound; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; and sister, Joann.
