A funeral service for Joyce Goodman, age 89 of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Danny Ballard officiating. Interment will follow at Weaver Cemetery with Christopher Whittle, Brandon Teague, Mike Huckabay, Tonya Gilbert, Jay Bell and Tim Heddens serving as pallbearers and Debbie Gosset, Glenn Norfleet and Joey Crump serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mrs. Goodman went to her heavenly home on October 2, 2021.
Joyce was born on October 31, 1931, in Weaver, Texas, to Clarence Henry and Marry Bell (Gruffith) Petrea. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Joyce was a Christian woman, who was known to most simply as Nana.
She is survived by a sister, Janet Cox of Baytown, Texas; daughters, Cathy Wyatt of Sulphur Springs and Lou Fleming of Wolfe City; grandchildren, Glenn Kizer, Karen Stieber, Susan Dutton, Krystal Kelly, Amber Weaver and Jessica Mclnnis; great-grandchildren, John Michael, Jessie, McKenize, Boo Boo, Debbie, Steven, Blake, Briann, Danielle and Chelsey; several great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Lee Goodman; her daughter, Carolyn Kay Swaney; and grandson, Michael Wayne Ray.
