Funeral services for Billy Dan Smith, 70 of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2021, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Buddy Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow at Finley Cemetery in Finley, OK with Steven, Zachary, Caleb, Dyllan, and William Smith and Jessee Collins serving as pallbearers; and Mason, Logan, and Ethan Davis, Skyler and Sayler Smith, Ryder and Rylan Collins, Beau Smith, and Rhyatt Cullers serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Billy Dan passed away on August 14, 2021, in his home of Sulphur Springs, with family near.
Billy Dan was born on June 16, 1951 in Dallas, Texas, to James Hugh Smith and Lillian Elizabeth (South) Smith. He married Geneva Brown on July 13, 1970 in Dallas, Texas. He was a proud Marine where he served 6 years. Which he then followed up as a machinist for 35 years. Billy Dan was a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Smith of which they spent 50 years of marriage; His children, Shilah Smith and spouse Kara Mulkey, Shannon Allen and husband Joel, Steven Smith and wife Stephania; Seven grandchildren Haley Davis, Zachary Smith and wife Jessica, Caleb Smith, Myranda Collins and husband Jessee, William Smith, Cheyann Cullers and husband Cyle, Dyllan Smith and wife Taylor; and Nine great-grandchildren.
Billy Dan was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Russell “Rusty” Smith, and many in-laws.
