Two Wildcats and Four Lady Cats Qualify for Regional Track Meet at Area Competition Wednesday

The Wildcats and Lady Cats Track Teams will be represented at the Regional Track Meet next weekend in Arlington.

Two Wildcats and four Lady Cats made it into the top four at the Area Meet Wednesday (April 14) in Hallsville to qualify for Regional.

For the Wildcats, Korderrian “Bull” Turner qualified in the long jump with a 4th place finish leaping 21′-1”. In the triple jump, Jermaine Cleveland qualified in 3rd place with a mark of 42′-9 3/4”. Turner also qualified finishing 4th going 42′-9.

Cleveland finished 5th at the District Meet but was only allowed to go to Area when another qualifying athlete above him could not go. Other Wildcats finishers at Area included Alex Flecker with 5th place in the 800-meter run.

Raydon McCormack took 7th in the shot put. Corde Mayo finished 6th in pole vault. Devon Franklin competed in the high jump.

For the Lady Cats, Haylee Shultz qualified in 4th place in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:36.926. Bre’Asia Ivery qualified in two events taking 2nd in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.492 and finishing 4th in the long jump with a mark of 16′-8 3/4”.

Claire Bybee qualified with a 1st place finish in pole vault soaring 12′-0”. Bybee finished 3 feet higher than the rest of the field. Dalanee Myles qualified getting 4th in the high jump leaping 4′-10”.

Other Lady Cats results at Area included a 5th place finish by the 4X100-meter relay team of Ivery, Myles, Janine Yamaguchi and Nylah Lindley. Vaness Wayne was a relay alternate. Bybee took 5th in the 300-meter hurdles, Shultz was 7th in the 1600-meter run. Mia Jones was 5th in the shot put.

The Regional Meet will take place in Arlington on April 23-24.
