Wildcats Tennis Team Has Some Success at Pleasant Grove Tourney Last Friday

The Wildcats Tennis Team played their sixth tournament of the semester last Friday (March 26) at Pleasant Grove.

The Wildcats are playing to earn the highest seed they can get for the District Tournament coming up April 13-14 in Texarkana.

Wildcats Coach Tony Martinez said his girls’ doubles team of Mykylie Meador and Jeauxleigh Cantu got all the way to a semifinal match Friday before losing to a Lindale team. Coach Martinez said senior Harleigh Stegient had a good first set in a match before she fell and injured her wrist. He said Stegient continued to play but struggled due to the injury.

Coach Martinez said his mixed doubles team of Carlos Romero and Ella Ray got to a finals match before losing to a Pleasant Grove team.

He said Lindale and Pleasant Grove both provided tough competition. He said the Wildcats will be playing in a Wills Point tournament on Thursday.
