Essie Lee Pryor

Mrs. Essie Lee Pryor, 93, of Sulphur Springs, TX, peacefully passed away on March 21, 2021. Mrs. Pryor made her celestial entrance on August 15, 1927 to the parentage of Wesley Johnson Sr. and Jessie May Chandler Johnson both of Sulphur Springs.
She married the late Great Herman Reed Pryor, and to this union ten children were born. Essie resided in the Birch Creek community along with Herman and she was credited as being a pillar of the community.

As confirmed by her family, Mrs. Pryor was a matriarch among matriarchs. From an early age Essie exhibited an unprecedented work ethic that became a trademark that she imparted to her family. She was a firm believer in hard work, valued maintaining a reputable name and loved to exhibit her love for people.

Mrs. Pryor is survived by her beloved children Jerrie Anne Amos (Dallas, TX), WC Pryor (Shirley), Earma Faye Pryor, Retha Adams (Alva Sr.), Linda Beachum (Clint), Barry Pryor (Dorothy), Dale Ray Pryor, 26 Grandchildren, 48 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great-Great Grandchildren, one sister-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends.

Mrs. Pryor was preceded in departure by her parents John and Jessie, husband Herman Reed Pryor, son Larry Pryor Sr, two infant children- Baby Pryor and Raymond Edward Pryor, one Granddaughter, two Great Grandchildren and ten siblings

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 26, 2021 at West Oaks Funeral Home.
