Wildcats Golf Team Takes Third Place at Rain-Shortened McKinney Tournament Tuesday

The Wildcats Golf Team had to settle for half of a tournament Tuesday (February 11) as rain and lightning plagued a tourney at Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club in McKinney. Wildcats Golf Coach Jeremy DeLorge said a lightning delay occurred just as players were starting to play. During the delay rain began to fall. Coach DeLorge said it was also cold and windy with a chill factor in the 30’s. Tournament officials decided to shorten the tournament to 9 holes. Coach DeLorge said the weather made a long course longer and scores were high. Out of 12 teams, the Wildcats finished third. McKinney Christian took first place and Plano East was second. Wildcats senior Colton Bench tied for third place. The Wildcats play next at a regional course preview at Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club Monday and Tuesday. Coach DeLorge said the weather might again be bad in Rockwall next week.
