
The Lady Cats Basketball Team started well against Mount Pleasant Friday night, Feb. 7, on the road leading the Lady Tigers, 12-10 after the first quarter.
However, Mount Pleasant turned things around in the second and third quarters outscoring the Lady Cats, 32-9 to lead 42-21 after three quarters. The Lady Cats did outscore the Lady Tigers 10-9 in the fourth quarter, but Mount Pleasant ended up on top, 48-31.
Junior Nylah Lindley led the Lady Cats with 10 points. Freshman Kenzie Willis scored 7 points. Senior Kate Womack had 5 points. Freshman Serenity Lewis scored 4 points. Junior Bre’Asia Ivery added 3 points. Sophomore Hannah Cordell scored 2 points.
Mount Pleasant got big games from senior post Kenya Bates with 18 points and freshman point guard Paris Beard with 16 points. The Lady Tigers, now 6-3 in district play, remain in a second place tie with Texas High, who just squeezed by Lindale by 2 points with a basket at the buzzer at home.
With the Lindale loss, the Lady Cats remain in fourth place with their 3-6 record. Lindale is one game back at 2-7. Lindale closes district play at home Tuesday against last place Greenville while the Lady Cats hope to wrap up the fourth place playoff spot a they host Texas High Tuesday on Senior Night.
