Sulphur Springs Woman Accused Of Stealing Meat From Main Street Store

A 33-year-old Sulphur Springs woman was accused Tuesday afternoon of stealing meat from a Main Street store.

Shelby Jo Williamson

Shelby Jo Williamson allegedly concealed two packages of meat in her purse and walked out of the grocery store without paying for the food. A manager at Cash Saver reportedly followed the woman out of the store. He told her to come back in with the stolen meat, Sulphur Springs Police Officer Sean Hoffman noted in arrest reports.

She complied by taking the meat out of her purse and put it in shopping cart near the front door, according to arrest reports.

Officers took Williamson into custody at 1:01 p.m. Jan. 28 for theft. A records check showed the woman to be wanted on a driving while license invalid. She also had several previous convictions for theft, resulting in the charge being enhanced to a felony, Hoffman alleged in arrest reports.

Williamson was released from the county jail Wednesday morning, Jan. 29. Bond on the theft charge was set at $5,000, according to jail reports.
