October 16, 2019 to October 22, 2019


October 16th

  • At 1:23 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 1643 near Winnsboro.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3270 near Quitman, at approximately 2:45 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2810 near Mineola, at approximately 5:17 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Quitman, at approximately 7:37 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
  • At 10:56 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 1643 near Winnsboro.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3990 near Hawkins, at approximately 2:13 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 4390 near Leesburg, at approximately 2:27 p.m., in reference to a possible theft. The reporting party was unsure of what was stolen at the time. Deputies advised that extra patrol would be provided.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 4141 near Quitman; at approximately 8:33 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Strawberry St. near Winnsboro; at approximately 8:50 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

October 17th

  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Pearl St. in Winnsboro; at approximately 1:24 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Woodbine St. in Hawkins; at approximately 2:16 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
  • At 4:49 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 852 near Winnsboro.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2088 near Quitman, at approximately 10:29 a.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.
  • At 10:42 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 2210 near Mineola.
  • At 1:28 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 4620 near Winnsboro.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Harris St. in Yantis, at approximately 4:17 p.m., in reference to an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. A known actor took the reporting party’s vehicle without authorization. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Winnsboro, at approximately 4:25 p.m., in reference to theft. A known actor stole electricity from the reporting party’s property.
  • At 6:10 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 1758 near Yantis.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2388 near Quitman, at approximately 7:59 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. BobbieJo Castanon, 19, of Quitman, was arrested for Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence.

October 18th

  • At 9:44 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Quitman.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2298 near Mineola, at approximately 11:03 a.m., in reference to a theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole paperwork and keys from the reporting party’s property.
  • At 12:20 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 1643 near Winnsboro.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 515 near Yantis, at approximately 2:59 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3840 near Hawkins, at approximately 4:02 p.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 75, was found deceased in his residence. The Justice of the Peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Main St. in Yantis, at approximately 6:32 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individuals.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3120 near Quitman, at approximately 6:36 p.m., in reference to a burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several items from the reporting party’s residence. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2100 near Quitman, at approximately 6:45 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.
  • At 7:42 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 14 near Quitman.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 8:50 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.
  • At 10:31 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2225 near Quitman.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on Lake Winnsboro point; at approximately 10:34 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.
  • At 10:45 p.m., horses were reported out on HWY 80 near Mineola.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2650 near Mineola, at approximately 11:39 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

October 19th

  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 4494 near Leesburg; at approximately 12:23 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3800 near Hawkins, at approximately 2:51 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.
  • At 2:59 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 2880 near Mineola.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Alba, at approximately 4:08 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
  • At 4:54 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Quitman.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3860 near Hawkins, at approximately 10:08 a.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Deputies determined no offense occurred, but extra patrol would be provided.
  • Deputies were dispatched to PR 6338 near Mineola, at approximately 12:10 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Deputies searched the area and determined it was a vehicle accident only, due to pieces of a vehicle near the area.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3840 near Hawkins, at approximately 4:24 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2966 near Quitman, at approximately 5:46 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 4836 near Winnsboro; at approximately 6:35 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2100 near Mineola, at approximately 7:52 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated for the night.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2966 near Quitman, at approximately 9:28 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies spoke with the homeowner and determined everything was OK.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Richards St. in Quitman; at approximately 9:49 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1681 near Alba, at approximately 12:25 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies located the four-wheeler and gave the individual advice.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Concho near Quitman, at approximately 10:33 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged the reporting party’s mailbox.
  • At 11:34 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 4560 near Winnsboro.
  • Deputies were dispatched to PR 6645 near Mineola, at approximately 11:44 p.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies located the individuals and advised them to lower the volume of the music.

October 20th

  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 2745 near Mineola; at approximately 12:07 a.m. Jerico Phillips, 42, of Mineola, was arrested for an outstanding warrant and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
  • Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Hawkins, at approximately 12:30 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.
  • Deputies were dispatched to PR 6338 near Mineola, at approximately 2:46 a.m., in reference to harassment where an assault occurred. This case has been forwarded to the District Attorney and a warrant was issued.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 1555 near Alba; at approximately 3:40 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies were dispatched to PR 6956 near Alba, at approximately 9:09 a.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a trashcan from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3880 near Mineola, at approximately 9:19 a.m., in reference to harassment. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3120 near Quitman, at approximately 9:21 a.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several items from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to PR 6882 near Mineola, at approximately 9:28 a.m., in reference to harassment. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • At 9:46 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Quitman.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3250 near Quitman, at approximately 10:00 a.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2660 near Mineola, at approximately 1:50 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and everything was OK.
  • Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Hawkins, at approximately 2:35 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Fm 14 near Hawkins, at approximately 5:59 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Gene Tedder, Jr., 63, of Mineola, was arrested for Assault and Criminal Mischief.
  • At 7:09 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 4430 near Winnsboro.
  • At 9:32 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 69 near Mineola.
  • Deputies were dispatched to PR 5980 near Yantis, at approximately 11:36 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

October 21st

  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 2745 near Mineola; at approximately 2:05 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle in the roadway on HWY 11 near Winnsboro; at approximately 3:19 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and it was towed by Wyatt’s Towing.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Lake Holbrook point, at approximately 3:40 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and cleared the incident.
  • At 7:18 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2966 near Yantis.
  • At 8:33 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2225 near Yantis.
  • At 9:36 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2966 near Yantis.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Hawkins, at approximately 10:13 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
  • At 11:42 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 3220 near Quitman.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 12:26 p.m., in reference to a possible violation of a protective order. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • At 12:51 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 778 near Mineola.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 3:05 p.m., in reference to harassment on PR 6965 near Alba. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Goodson Circle in Mineola; at approximately 8:22 p.m. Clarice Slayton, 63, of Mineola, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious person on HWY 37 near Mineola; at approximately 11:43 p.m. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

October 22nd

  • At 8:10 a.m., horses were reported out on HWY 80 near Mineola.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 8:37 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 9:19 a.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.
  • At 11:30 a.m., horses were reported out on CR 1840 near Yantis.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Loop 564 near Mineola, at approximately 1:22 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 2:09 p.m., in reference to a scam on CR 4925 near Quitman. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Bermuda St. in Quitman; at approximately 3:20 p.m., Lyle Ely, 25, of Winnsboro, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Hawkins, at approximately 5:58 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Floyd St. in Yantis; at approximately 9:17 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 1795 near Hawkins, at approximately 11:29 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies located the individuals and determined it was a civil matter.

Between the dates of October 16 and October 22, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Emergency Medical Services, Quitman Police Department, Rains County Sheriff’s Office and Mineola Police Department.

Between the dates of, Wood County Sheriff’s Investigators filed 2 cases with the District Attorney.

Total Jail Count – 134 inmates – 110 males and 24 females.
