Alliance Bank in Sulphur Springs

Tira News For Oct. 23, 2019

By Jan Vaughn

We extend our sympathy to the family of Jeanie Pace, of Clarksville – formerly from Tira. She passed away on Monday, Oct. 21, and a graveside service is planned for Friday, Oct. 25, at the North Hopkins Cemetery, under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Please remember the family in prayer.

Regina Payton, from Victoria, arrived on Wednesday evening, Oct. 16, to spend a few days visiting her mother, Martha Payton. Martha reports, “We had a driving tour of the neighborhood. On Thursday, we made trip to Cooper and the Cooper Lake. Friday is always chore day, with a trip to Sulphur Springs and lunch. On Saturday, we planned lunch with my sister Ann from Longview, brother from Pittsburg and a cousin Sharon and Eugene Neece from Linden, whom I haven’t seen in over fifty years. Needless to say we had reminiscing to do. Regina returned home on Sunday morning.”

Wesley and Robert Weir were in the Fall Festival Parade with the My Heroes bowling group Saturday morning. Yvonne reports, “We had a Halloween party Saturday night for them at the Tira Community Center.” She adds, “Brenda Allen and I went to the afternoon session of Cowboy Poetry in Winnsboro on Saturday afternoon. It was great.”

I always need and appreciate input from my friends to help keep me informed of news in our community. If you have any news pertaining to Tira residents, past or present, please contact me, Jan Vaughn, at 903-438-6688 or [email protected].
