Funeral Service for Gerald Barnes, age 85, of Sulphur Springs will held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Bob Neal officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Ryan Holman, Adam Holman, Tanner Volz, B.J. Barnes, Chris Barnes and Graham Cavness serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Barnes passed away at his residence on Saturday, October 19, 2019.
Gerald was born on October 28, 1933 in Greenpond, the son of Mozelle Stinson Gillem and Voyd Gillem. He married Ruth McDonald on June 15, 1956 in Hopkins County. He worked as a sales person and operated the pro shop at Sulphur Springs Country Club before his retirement. Gerald served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was of the Baptist faith.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Ruth Barnes; daughter, Beverly Holman and husband Doug; son, Larry Barnes; grandchildren, Amanda Volz, Ryan Holman, Adam Holman, B.J. Barnes, Chris Barnes, Amy Mitchell; great grandchildren, Hadley, Sloan, Callen, Kessler, Sawyer, Kaitlyn, Brianna, Gabby, Brooke, Neko and three great great grandchildren. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter.
