Lady Cats Volleyball Drops Match at Home, 3-0 to Wylie East Tuesday

The Lady Cats Volleyball Team was competitive in three matches at home against Wylie East but couldn’t get a win in a 3-0 loss Tuesday (September 17) in the main gym at Sulphur Springs High School. The score was 20-25, 21-25 and 21-25. In set one, the Lady Cats quickly fell behind 5-1 and never took the lead. The Lady Cats got to within one point twice during the set. Set two went back and forth. The score was tied on ten occasions, the last time at 18-18. The Lady Cats largest lead in the set was three points. It was more of the same in the third set. Again the score was tied ten times, the last time at 21-21. The Raiders scored the last four points of the match to take set three and the match. The Lady Cats led at one time in set three by four points, 16-12. Sadie Washburn had another strong performance with 14 kills and 11 digs. Brooklyn Burnside had 7 kills and was at 50% with 7 kills in 14 attempts. Libero Czhela Moya had a team high 12 digs. Setter Peyton Hammack had a team high 25 assists. Burnside had two blocks and Sadie Washburn had one. The Lady Cats are now 18-10 for the season. The Lady Cady Cats have an open date Friday for Homecoming. The Lady Cats will play at Nevada Community next Tuesday. Community is coached by last year’s Lady Cats Coach Justin Maness. The match will be the Lady Cats last non-district match with district play beginning at home on Friday, September 27 against Royse City.
