Football Camp Starts

Wildcat Football Camp for Kids Entering 3rd Through 7th Grade Starts This Evening

The Wildcat Football Camp is the first of the SSISD summer sports camps this year. It is designed for boys entering the third through the seventh grade next school year. The three-day camp gets underway Tuesday (May 28) and runs through Thursday (May 30). It has usually been held in late August and it’s been during the day. This year’s football camp has not only moved to late May, it has also been moved to evening. Camp hours will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Multipurpose Building. Wildcats Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Greg Owens explains he wanted to try something different since attendance for the third grade through seventh grade group at Wildcat Football Camp has been just okay but not great. Cost of the camp per student is $20. Coach Owens says the camp may be beneficial for kids that will play peewee football this summer. Members of the Wildcats’ football coaching staff will instruct the campers who will receive training for all aspects of football. Coach Owens says the goal is to have a camp where kids have fun. Seventh graders planning to play seventh grade football will be separated and will work with middle school football coaches. Registration forms for football and all the SSISD camps are available at the school district website at www.ssisd.net.
