Wildcats 7 on 7 Team Opens Season With a Win and a Loss Tuesday

The Wildcats’ 7 on 7 football team opened their season with a pair of games in the Multipurpose Building Tuesday evening (April 30). Lindale and Paris came to town. The Wildcats fielded a varsity Blue Team and a Gold Team of youngsters. The varsity defeated Lindale but lost to Paris. Wildcats Football Offensive Coordinator Matt Young said Kaden Wallace and Noe Ponce played at quarterback for the Blue Team. He said their accuracy was good but not great. Coach Young said the games were beneficial as the quarterbacks got to work on play calling. He talked about several receivers and running backs that caught the ball well. Included were Aidan Walker, Kylan Wade, Da’Korian Sims, Caden Davis, Campbell Cody, Bryant Sanchez, Zach Tiemeyer, Chase Haney, Bryson Lacy and Detrick Clayton. Coach Young said the opening games gave the players a lot to work on. Saturday, weather permitting, the Blue and Gold teams will play at a Paul Pewitt 7 on 7 tournament. The Blue squad will play Mount Pleasant, Elysian Fields and Daingerfield while the Gold squad will play Paul Pewitt, Mount Vernon and Alba-Golden.
