Wildcats Tennis Coach Tony Martinez pronounced himself very happy with the results from the Wildcats first tournament of the season at Hallsville Friday (January 25).
In Boys A Doubles, juniors Aaron Lucas and Logan Schumacher took third place. In Boys B Doubles, juniors Michael McCord and Brandon Dittrich lost in the finals to a tough team from Jacksonville to end up in second place.
Coach Martinez said he had to make some adjustments to the Wildcats lineup due to some injuries and ended up pairing two freshmen on a mixed doubles team. Alex Romero and Emily Dick got fourth place. Coach Martinez said he was pleased with how the freshmen competed against more experienced juniors and seniors.
In the Boys A Singles Consolation final, Jonah Kirkpatrick captured first place. In the Girls A Doubles Consolation, the team of freshman Paige Miesse and senior Zoe Wilson lost in the finals match to earn second place. Next the Wildcats’ tennis team plays at Waxahachie next Friday.
