The Wildcats’ basketball team used a potent offense to build a big lead after three quarters on their way to a 94-84 victory over Princeton in Sulphur Springs Gym Friday night (January 4).
The Wildcats were up by 8 at 20-12 after one quarter. By the half, the Wildcats were up by 12 at 44-32. The Wildcats out scored the Panthers, 29-18 in the third quarter and the lead went to 73-50. Wildcats Coach Clark Cipoletta used his bench players mostly in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats withstood a 34 point Panthers scoring barrage in the quarter and the Wildcats held on to win by 10 points.
The Wildcats got 27 points from Sadaidriene Day Day Hall who also grabbed double digit rebounds. Hall also hit a three-point basket. Keaston Willis had 21 points including 5 three-pointers. Cameron Kahn and Xavier Cork scored 9 points each. Jeremiah Roland and Duece Berry had 7 points each. Roland and Berry each hit one three-point shot. Freshman Justin Haire scored 6 points. Lamodrick Johnson scored 4 points. Boo Wilkerson and Kai Taylor had 2 points each. Princeton’s speedy guard Haven Ousley led all scorers with 39 points and guard Jeremy Norvell had 24 points.
The Wildcats improved their season record to 14-8. Next the Wildcats open district play next Friday at home against Greenville. Prior to the Wildcats’ game, the Lady Cats’ basketball team will be taking on Greenville.
