Lady Cats Play for Third Place in Edgewood Tournament Saturday

The Lady Cats’ basketball team completed pool play in the Edgewood tournament with a solid 54-32 win over Kaufman Friday night (December 7). The Lady Cats ended pool play with a 2-2 record with wins over Wills Point and Kaufman and losses to Edgewood and Gilmer. Based on pool play results, the Lady Cats will play for third place in the tournament against North Forney Saturday at 2:40 p.m. in the Edgewood High School Gym.

Against Kaufman, the Lady Cats jumped out to a 17-10 lead. They went up at halftime by 9 at 31-22. In the big third quarter, the Lady Cats outscored the Lady Lions 13-2 to take a 44-24 lead after the third quarter. The Lady Cats also outscored Kaufman 10-8 in the fourth quarter. 

Sadavia Porter scored 20 points to lead the Lady Cats. She hit 3 three-point baskets. Autumn Tanton scored 19 points including 1 three-pointer. Te’Arria Rose and Danielle Godbolt scored 7 points each. Rose had one basket behind the 3-point arc. Nylah Lindley added 1 point. Coach Brittney Tisdell played all eleven Lady Cats on the roster.

The Lady Cats improved their season record to 10-3.
