Wood County Sheriff’s Report for October 17-23, 2018:

October 17th

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2540 near Mineola, at approximately 7:09 a.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2966 near Quitman, at approximately 8:43 a.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a firearm and an AC unit from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 9:18 a.m., in reference to a scam that occurred on CR 4860 near Winnsboro.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 10:48 a.m., in reference to stalking that occurred on CR 2234 near Mineola. Deputies advised the reporting party that extra patrol would be provided.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 3234 near Quitman; at approximately 10:57 a.m. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

At 12:12 p.m., horses were reported out on HWY 80 near Mineola.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 69 near Como, at approximately 6:22 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to Fm 2225 near Quitman, at approximately 6:58 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Prior to the deputies’ arrival, the parties separated.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4930 near Quitman, at approximately 8:39 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Emergency Medical Services transported an individual to the Emergency Room and deputies cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3265 near Mineola, at approximately 10:11 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated for the night.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 1944 near Yantis; at approximately 10:16 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

October 18th

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Yantis, at approximately 2:32 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

At 10:08 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 4420 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4238 near Winnsboro, at approximately 10:52 a.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole the reporting party’s livestock. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 14 near Hawkins, at approximately 11:12 a.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any signs of a break-in.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1985 near Yantis, at approximately 1:04 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

At 2:32 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2225 near Quitman.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 3:30 p.m., in reference to theft that occurred on PR 7539 near Hawkins. This case is active.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2686 near Mineola, at approximately 3:58 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4495 near Winnsboro, at approximately 4:19 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 515 near Yantis, at approximately 4:21 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2303 near Mineola, at approximately 8:11 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and it was towed by Wyatt’s Towing.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Johnson St. in Mineola; at approximately 9:16 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 1953 near Yantis; at approximately 9:30 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Meadow Dr. in Winnsboro; at approximately 10:15 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 4430 near Winnsboro; at approximately 10:27 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to HWY 11 near Winnsboro; at approximately 10:47 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

October 19th

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Broad St. in Mineola; at approximately 12:45 a.m. Benjamin Eddington, 38, of Longview, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2225 near Quitman, at approximately 6:13 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated for the day.

At 6:51 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 1413 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 11 near Winnsboro, at approximately 9:18 a.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual to issue a Criminal Trespass Warning.

At 9:34 a.m., horses were reported out on CR 3861 near Hawkins.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 11 near Winnsboro, at approximately 10:21 a.m., in reference to disorderly conduct. Daniel Santoya, 53, of Dallas, was arrested for Public Intoxication.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2540 near Alba, at approximately 10:24 a.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3450 near Hawkins, at approximately 1:01 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2430 near Mineola, at approximately 3:10 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. The parties were separated for the day.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 11 near Winnsboro, at approximately 5:51 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 37 near Mineola, at approximately 8:39 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1616 near Alba, at approximately 9:45 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Alba, at approximately 10:00 p.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. This case is active.

October 20th

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Hawkins, at approximately 12:38 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. JaMarcus Young, 20, of Fort Worth, was arrested for Criminal Trespass. James Barfield, 19, of Grand Prairie, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3220 near Quitman, at approximately 2:07 a.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and cleared the incident.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 4494 near Winnsboro; at approximately 3:00 a.m. Steven Albright, 39, of Leesburg, was arrested for No Drivers License When Unlicensed-Not CDL.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1895 near Yantis, at approximately 7:38 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Yantis, at approximately 8:55 a.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several items from the reporting party’s property. This case is forwarded to investigators.

At 11:49 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2869 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2771 near Mineola, at approximately 2:20 p.m., in reference to a scam. The reporting party advised the deputies that the scam was through EBay. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2116 near Quitman, at approximately 5:17 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the actors.

Deputies were dispatched to Elmwood Path near Hawkins, at approximately 9:34 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 852 near Winnsboro, at approximately 11:39 p.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies advised the individuals to lower the volume of the music and cleared the incident.

October 21st

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4255 near Winnsboro, at approximately 12:32 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 1795 near Hawkins, at approximately 1:30 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on HWY 154 near Quitman; at approximately 1:49 a.m. James Davis, 38, of Alba, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 5:31 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1995 near Yantis, at approximately 6:23 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies spoke with the owner of the vehicle and determined it was an accident.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 7:11 a.m., in reference to a dispute that occurred on FM 852 near Winnsboro. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to Loop 564 near Mineola, at approximately 7:55 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

At 9:13 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 1800 near Yantis.

Deputies were dispatched to Sissy Spacek St. in Quitman, at approximately 10:39 a.m., in reference to a criminal trespass. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 5935 near Yantis, at approximately 11:39 a.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a lawnmower from the reporting party’s property. The lawnmower was found in an abandoned lot close to the reporting party’s residence and the incident was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4536 near Winnsboro, at approximately 1:34 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a mower lift from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Alba, at approximately 2:31 p.m., in reference to terroristic threat. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3265 near Mineola, at approximately 5:10 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on HWY 69 near Mineola; at approximately 6:11 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and it was towed by Wyatt’s Towing.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2540 near Mineola, at approximately 8:36 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Quitman, at approximately 9:02 p.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.

At 10:31 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2966 near Yantis.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 37 near Mineola, at approximately 11:18 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

October 22nd

At 2:50 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 4530 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4200 near Winnsboro, at approximately 3:19 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and this case remains active.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2775 near Mineola, at approximately 5:33 a.m., in reference to a dispute. Emergency Medical Services transported an individual to the hospital and deputies cleared the incident.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 1246 near Quitman; at approximately 10:43 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

At 6:17 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 852 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2754 near Mineola, at approximately 6:43 p.m., in reference to a fire. Mineola Fire Department extinguished the fire. This case has been forwarded to other agency.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 8:46 p.m., in reference to a scam that occurred on HWY 154 near Quitman. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 9:51 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

At 9:52 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 1326 near Quitman.

October 23rd

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on HWY 154 near Yantis; at approximately 1:51 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

At 6:45 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 1700 near Yantis.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Bermuda St. in Quitman; at approximately 11:03 a.m. Joshua Scott, 26, of Alba, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3600 near Hawkins, at approximately 11:34 a.m., in reference to a theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole three tractor batteries from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 5675 near Alba, at approximately 12:06 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke to all parties involved and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2171 near Quitman, at approximately 1:39 p.m., in reference to a burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a wooden board from the reporting party’s property. Deputies advised the reporting party that extra patrol would be provided.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 6440 near Mineola, at approximately 2:43 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. This case is active.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on HWY 154 near Yantis; at approximately 4:16 p.m. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Yantis, at approximately 4:20 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Wendell Baker, 83, of Quitman, was arrested for Public Intoxication.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2275 near Mineola, at approximately 5:34 p.m., in reference to a violation of a protective order. Nathan Weaver, 40, of Mineola, was arrested for Violation of Bond/Protective Order Assault/Stalking.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1681 near Alba, at approximately 6:32 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Kenneth Sowell, 47, of Alba, was arrested for Aggravated Assault Date/Family/Household Member with Weapon.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3540 near Hawkins, at approximately 6:59 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies spoke with the owner of the building and were advised there are issues with the alarm system.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 1246 near Quitman, at approximately 9:43 p.m. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to Shawnee near Quitman, at approximately 11:02 p.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.

Between the dates of October 17 and October 23, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Department of Public Safety, Upshur County, Emergency Medical Services and Police Departments.

Between the dates of October 17 and October 23, Wood County Sheriff’s Investigators filed 6 cases with the district attorney.

Total Jail Count –121 inmates – 96 males and 25 females.
