Friday for the second home match in a row, the Lady Cats’ volleyball team took a district opponent into a fifth and deciding set and then came up short. The Lady Cats lost to Texas High 3-2 in Wildcat Gym on Friday.
The Lady Cats started off well winning set one, 25-19. Texas High bounced back to even the match with a 25-17 win in set two. The Lady Cats then took a 2-1 lead in sets with a set three win, 25-22. Again Texas High battled back to even the match 2 sets apiece with a 25-17 win in set four. That set up a winner takes all set five to 15 points. The Lady Cats got off to a very slow start in set five trailing, 6-0, then 9-1 and 10-2. Texas High took the set, 15-8.
In the previous home match against Greenville, the Lady Lions topped the Lady Cats in Wildcat Gym taking a set five, 15-7. The Friday loss to Texas High means the Lady Cats end the first half of district play with a 1-4 district record. They are in fifth place. In the second half the Lady Cats will host Royse City, Lindale and Mount Pleasant and they will have to travel to Greenville and to Texas High.
The Lady Cats have lost five of their last six matches. Their season record is now 25-11. The Lady Cats begin the second half of district play by hosting Royse City in Wildcat Gym next Tuesday evening.
