September 12th

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 4136 near Quitman; at approximately 1:28 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to Dogwood Trail near Hawkins, at approximately 3:44 a.m., in reference to theft. A known actor stole a firearm from the reporting party’s residence. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 37 near Quitman, at approximately 6:45 a.m., in reference to an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Gary Post, 33, of Winnsboro, was arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to Main St. in Yantis, at approximately 10:24 a.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and cleared the incident.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 11:02 a.m., in reference to harassment that occurred on FM 2869 near Winnsboro. This case is active.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to FM 14 near Hawkins; at approximately 1:05 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3425 near Hawkins, at approximately 2:52 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and the incident was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2275 near Mineola, at approximately 3:45 p.m., in reference to a disturbance where an assault occurred. This case is active.

At 4:26 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2225 near Yantis.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3859 near Mineola, at approximately 6:05 p.m., in reference to a theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole two dogs from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 7:12 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 37 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2267 near Mineola, at approximately 7:17 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a utility trailer from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2088 near Winnsboro, at approximately 7:35 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

At 7:41 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 182 near Alba.

At 7:57 p.m., horses were reported out on CR 3250 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3950 near Hawkins, at approximately 9:09 p.m., in reference to a fire. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any signs of a fire.

September 13th

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on FM 182 near Alba; at approximately 1:00 a.m. Deputies located the individual and provided a courtesy transport.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3985 near Winnsboro, at approximately 7:40 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4660 near Winnsboro, at approximately 10:38 a.m., in reference to a welfare check.  Deputies located human remains and forwarded this case to investigators. The Justice of the Peace arrived and ordered an autopsy.

At 11:55 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 37 near Quitman.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 12:31 p.m., in reference to a theft that occurred on PR 5569 near Alba. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a firearm from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 37 near Quitman, at approximately 5:49 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on SPUR 514 near Yantis; at approximately 6:13 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 6:33 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass that occurred on FM 14 near Hawkins. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 6:38 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass that occurred on FM 852 near Winnsboro. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1726 near Yantis, at approximately 7:07 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged a fence on the reporting party’s family member’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 69 near Yantis, at approximately 7:42 p.m., in reference to a burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, stole an AC unit from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2310 near Mineola, at approximately 8:31 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4990 near Winnsboro, at approximately 9:16 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

September 14th

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 182 near Quitman; at approximately 12:12 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4400 near Winnsboro, at approximately 2:14 a.m., in reference to 911 violations. Damon Bell, 31, of Mount Pleasant, was arrested for Silent/Abusive Calls to 911 Service.

At 4:28 a.m., horses were reported out on FM 515 near Alba.

Deputies responded to a missing person possibly found on FM 69 near Alba; at approximately 11:44 a.m. Deputies transported the individual to the sheriff’s office and a family member picked him up.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 1:30 p.m., in reference to a scam that occurred on Village Circle near Yantis. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Alba, at approximately 1:28 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. The actor advised the deputies that the damage to the mailbox will be fixed.

At 4:11 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2225 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 778 near Mineola, at approximately 4:56 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 6:09 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief that occurred on FM 515 near Yantis. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 182 near Quitman, at approximately 6:10 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

At 6:25 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 1336 near Quitman.

At 6:59 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 37 near Quitman.

At 7:52 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2225 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 69 near Alba, at approximately 9:43 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2265 near Mineola; at approximately 10:02 p.m. Bryan Cooper, 24, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, was arrested for Violation of a Protective Order.

September 15th

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 14 near Hawkins; at approximately 12:30 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

At 8:03 a.m., horses were reported out on CR 3860 near Hawkins.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2100 near Quitman, at approximately 9:20 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Trinity Mother Francis in Winnsboro; at approximately 10:21 a.m. Lorena King, 42, of Winnsboro, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

At 12:18 p.m., horses were reported out on FM 312 near Winnsboro.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 12:51 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief that occurred on CR 4536 near Winnsboro. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1807 near Yantis, at approximately 1:40 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 4:35 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief that occurred on PR 6323 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4539 near Winnsboro, at approximately 7:36 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Jason Bearden, 40, of Winnsboro, was arrested for Criminal Trespass.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 11 near Winnsboro, at approximately 9:47 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 1254 near Quitman, at approximately 10:18 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged the reporting party’s property. This case is active.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 11:23 p.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies located the activity and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 11:36 p.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3880 near Hawkins, at approximately 11:32 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

September 16th

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1800 near Yantis, at approximately 12:46 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Stephanie Miranda, 30, of Yantis, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Yantis, at approximately 2:30 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Alex Walls, 24, of Yantis, was arrested for Assault Public Servant and Assault Causes Bodily Injury of Family/Household Member – Impede Breathing/Circulation.

At 9:50 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 17 near Yantis.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2966 near Quitman, at approximately 12:32 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies searched the building and it was secure.

At 2:03 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 4353 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1906 near Yantis, at approximately 3:56 p.m., in reference to a terroristic threat. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and determined it was a civil matter.

At 4:15 p.m., horses were reported out on CR 312 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4353 near Winnsboro, at approximately 5:56 p.m., in reference to a burglary. Deputies advised there was no evidence that a burglary occurred.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4988 near Quitman, at approximately 6:58 p.m., in reference to harassment. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2297 near Mineola, at approximately 9:25 p.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 67, was found deceased in his residence. The Justice of the Peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.

September 17th

Deputies were dispatched to Kiowa near Quitman, at approximately 12:30 a.m., in reference to an inquest. A female, 50, was found deceased in her residence. The Justice of the Peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1210 near Quitman, at approximately 8:14 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies spoke with the homeowner and determined the alarm was an accident.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 9:33 a.m., in reference to fraud that occurred on CR 3689 near Hawkins. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

At 10:19 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 779 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3540 near Hawkins, at approximately 10:52 a.m., in reference to an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and determined it was a civil matter.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 10:54 a.m., in reference to an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on FM 17 near Alba. Deputies made contact with all parties involved and cleared the incident.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 12:11 p.m., in reference to a burglary that occurred on CR 4530 near Winnsboro. Actors, or actors unknown, broke into the reporting party’s guest house. This case is active.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 37 near Winnsboro, at approximately 1:19 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 2:03 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass that occurred on CR 1941 near Yantis. Deputies advised that extra patrol would be provided.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Bermuda St. in Quitman; at approximately 4:17 p.m. Kendall White, 30, of Quitman, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 4:17 p.m., in reference to a dispute on CR 4583 near Winnsboro. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 3540 near Hawkins, at approximately 5:32 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3660 near Hawkins, at approximately 5:37 p.m., in reference to a burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a firearm from the reporting party’s vehicle. This case is active.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2502 near Mineola, at approximately 7:25 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Nathaniel Hurtzig, 22, of Mineola, was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 4294 near Como; at approximately 10:06 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 10:15 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 1254 near Mineola, at approximately 10:54 p.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.

September 18th

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on FM 14 near Hawkins; at approximately 9:14 a.m. Deputies located the individual and cleared the incident.

At 9:55 a.m., horses were reported out on FM 49 near Mineola.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 3:45 p.m., in reference to a scam that occurred on FM 2088 near Winnsboro. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2918 near Alba, at approximately 5:02 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies cleared and secured the residence.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Puckett St. in Quitman; at approximately 8:28 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 14 near Hawkins; at approximately 9:07 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 779 near Alba; at approximately 11:10 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 1210 near Quitman; at approximately 11:55 p.m. Stephen Johnson, 29, of Hawkins, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Between the dates of September 12 and September 18, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Police Departments, Hopkins County and Emergency Medical Services.

Between the dates of September 12 and September 18, Wood County Sheriff’s Investigators filed 6 cases with the district attorney, obtained 1 arrest warrant and arrested the individual.

Total Jail Count – 104 inmates – 87 males and 17 females.
