Game Day: Wildcats Host Terrell; Homecoming; State Champ Team To Be Honored

The Wildcats’ football team is hosting the Terrell Tigers at Gerald Prim Stadium on this Friday (September 14) game day. They are hoping the lightning stays away this week.

The game is the district opener for both teams and it’s Homecoming for the Wildcats. Terrell comes in 0-1 after a week one loss at Hallsville, 27-7. Their game against Paris was canceled by weather last week. The Wildcats are 1-0. They defeated Frisco Wakeland on the road in week one, 37-35. Again their scheduled home against Lovejoy was also canceled by weather last week. Since 1956, the Wildcats lead the series with Terrell, 11 wins to 10. The two teams played last in bi-district in 2005 with Terrell winning, 34-17.

Terrell is coached by Mike Shields, in his fifth year. The Wildcats are coached by former Wildcat star Greg Owens, in his thirteenth year. His record is 83-59 and includes a state championship won ten years ago. Those state champs are being honored at the Homecoming game Friday night.

You can catch all the excitement of Wildcats’ football with Terrell on KSST Radio. The game will be also videotaped for replay later on Channel 18 on Suddenlink Cable.
