Funeral services for Sonny Shipp, age 75, of Emory, were held at 11:00 a. m. Friday August 03, 2018, at Emory Baptist Church. Dr. Richard Pile officiated. Burial was in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery.
Sonny was born October 25, 1942, in Emory to the parentage of Walter Wayne and Glenna Ophelia Teer Shipp.Sonny served in the Army Reserves in the 60’s. He married Lou Cheryl Jones in Garland on October 28, 1966. He was a firefighter and worked with the Duncanville Fire Department until retirement. Sonny and Cheryl we members of the Emory Baptist Church.
Survivors include: wife, Cheryl Shipp of Emory; son, Jay Shipp and wife Rachel of Flower Mound; daughters, Wendy Ship Thurman and husband Jarrod of Emory, Robin Shipp Herman of Emory; brother Jerry Shipp and wife, Glenna of Frisco; sisters, Anita Renfro and husband, Robert,of Quinlan, and Rhonda Petrea and husband Mike of Quinlan; grandchildren, Hannah Shipp, Kyle Thurman, Katie Thurman and Jace Herman.
