The Edge Conditioning Program Enhancing Athletic Performance

Monday (June 25) Sulphur Springs High School and Middle School athletes began their third week of The Edge conditioning program presented by Michael Johnson Performance. Wildcats Athletic Director Greg Owens said things were going well. He noted that some kids are sore but he said they are becoming more acclimated to drills, including some designed to address areas of deficiency for the athletes.

Coach Owens said athletes in four different groups are receiving unique drills. He said high school sophomore through senior football players are getting lots of flexibility work. Freshmen football p[layers along with boys in basketball, soccer and tennis are doing drills to strengthen their core. High School girls make up a third group. Coach Owens said instructors have been bragging about this group a lot for catching on to their drills so quickly. A fourth group is made up of middle school athletes and they too are doing drills to strengthen their cores. Coach Owens said Michael Johnson Performance is giving him a report each week.

Numbers of participants remain good with more than 230 attending. Some athletes are still available to do chores for cash. Contact Coach Owens if you have a task that needs doing.
