Funeral services for Lois Elaine Brandt, age 88 of Emory, Texas, will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas with Pastor Tim Eden officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 PM at Emory City Cemetery with Kerry Campbell, Howard Olson, Geoff Wallace, Joe Davis, Melvin Anderson and Justin Ketner serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Lois passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Senior Suite Care & Rehab in Emory. She was born on November 23, 1929 in Redby, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph and Berenice Workman Dietrich. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sulphur Springs and a member of the Point Womens Club. She loved children and did day care for several years. She also loved cooking and baking and was well known for several of her recipes. She married Herluf “Curly” Brandt on January 19, 1952 in San Diego, California. Over her life she lived in Minnesota, California, Colorado and Texas leaving behind dear friends who were richer for having known her.
Lois is survived by her husband, Curly; son, David Brandt and wife, Tammy of Point, Texas; two daughters, Nila Dowlearn and husband, Paul of Wichita Falls, Texas and Eileen Skillingstad and husband, Dennis of St. Cloud, Minnesota; grandchildren, P.J. Zitsch, and Allison and Aaron Skillingstad; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Neil Dietrich; 2 infant brothers; and grandson, Andrew Skillingstad.
