A male subject, believed to be in his mid-40’s, was wounded and is in a Dallas area hospital after he brandished a weapon in an altercation with deputies and the DPS Saturday evening, according to Hopkins County Sheriff Lewis Tatum.
Hopkins County Deputies and a Department of Public Safety trooper responded to an Assault Family violence call in the Reilly Springs area. The male subject was located in a vehicle. He fled the officers and they gave pursuit. The subject drove into the driveway of a residence just off FM 1567 east of Reilly Springs. That is when he pointed a firearm at the officers and was shot by a Hopkins County Deputy.
As of Sunday morning, the subject is in a Dallas area hospital and will be transported to Hopkins County jail following his release from the hospital.
No names have been released at this time, according to Sheriff Tatum.
