Wildcats’ boys singles player Alex Benitez has done something that hasn’t been done in Sulphur Springs in over a decade. Benitez has qualified to go to the Regional Tennis Tournament in two weeks.
Benitez is assured of either a first or second place finish in boys’ singles at the district tournament after he made the final Wednesday. Benitez will play in the final match Thursday in Texarkana. Wildcats Tennis Coach Tony Martinez sent out the word Wednesday in a text featuring three exclamation points. Wildcats Tennis Coach Susan Reynolds took a girl to the Regional Tennis Tournament over ten years ago.
