Wildcats Compete at Powerlifting State Meet

Wildcats Powerlifting Coach Casey Jeter said he was very proud of D’Idrec Dugan and Ian Blanch, who lifted at the State Powerlifting Meet Saturday (March 24) in Abilene. He said for them to finish among the top twenty lifters in their weight class over the entire state of Texas is quite an accomplishment. Last year, Blanch attended the state meet as an alternate while Dugan lifted. Both competed in the 242 pound weight class Saturday.

Coach Jeter said Dugan came in ranked #16 in the state and Blanch was 19th in state. He said both had a plan and were focused against the extreme competition from across Texas. Coach Jeter said both lifters had personal best lifts in the squat and the bench press. The final lift, the dead lift, was the tough one for the Wildcats’ lifters. Coach Jeter said Dugan bombed out and Blanch was not able to lift enough weight to have a very special day. He finished 21st. Coach Jeter said the lifters had a wait a very long time between the bench press and dead lift and he said it showed.

The Wildcats will lose 4 seniors to graduation. Coach Jeter said he could have 26 lifters with experience return next year.
