Baseball, softball, golf and track are all happening on this Friday game day (March 9). The Wildcats and Lady Cats’ soccer teams have an open date on this game day. The Wildcats’ baseball team has its’ third game in the Grayson County Classic Friday after losing two one-run games Thursday in Denison. The Wildcats, 3-7 for the season so far, are playing Bridgeport in Sherman. That game got underway at 11 a.m. Saturday the Wildcats play Celina at 11 a.m.and Sanger at 1:30 p.m. in Sherman.
The Lady Cats’ softball team is hoping for continued recent success against Hallsville as they play the Lady Bobcats on the road Friday. There will be a JV game at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity game to follow at 6 p.m. After a long losing streak against the Bobcats, the Lady Cats have won their last three games against Hallsville. The Lady Cats come into the Friday night game 1-0 in district play after edging by Greenville last Tuesday by a 3-2 score.
Both the Wildcats and Lady Cats’ golf teams are having a district preview at the Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club Friday. The Rockwall course will also be the site of district play on April 5-6. Most, if not all, of the district teams are expected to play the Rockwall course on this game day Friday.
Finally the Wildcats and Lady Cats’ track teams will be competing at a Gilmer Meet on this game day Friday. The meet gets underway at 4 p.m. It will be the first competition this season for for the field competitors.
