Soccer: Wildcats Win; Lady Cats Lose

Things looked promising for the Lady Cats’ soccer team as they jumped out in front of Pine Tree, 1-0 on a goal by Keeley Hudgins at the 32:25 mark of the first half at Gerald Prim Stadium Monday night. Pine Tree was able to even the match before halftime with a goal at 17:30. The Lady Pirates scored the go ahead goal and ultimate game winner at the 14:36 mark of the second half. The Lady Cats district record slips to 4-3. They are 12-5-3 for the season. The Lady Cats play at Marshall on Friday night.

Wildcats Soccer 1, Pine Tree 0

The Wildcats’ soccer team got off to a good start in the second half of the district soccer season with a clutch 1-0 victory at Pine Tree Monday night. The Wildcats lone goal was scored by Alexis Escobedo assisted by Enrique Arellano. The victory avenged a Pine Tree victory, 3-0 over the Wildcats in the first round of district play back on February 2 at Gerald Prim Stadium. The Monday win on the road improved the Wildcats district record to 3-4. Their season record is now 10-10. The Wildcats play host to the Marshall Mavericks Friday at Prim Stadium. The Wildcats won at Marshall on February 6 in overtime, 2-0.
