Previous Convictions Elevate Charge for Theft under $2500

When the Sulphur Springs Police officer stopped the 1999 Chevy Suburban Monday at 5 p.m., he found $30 in stolen items inside. Those items along with two previous convictions for theft led to the arrest of Mykeya Starlet Payne, 31, of Sulphur Springs. Although a small amount, with the two previous convictions she now faces a State Jail Felony. The arrest also led to her arrest on five previous traffic charges.

Payne is in Hopkins County Jail held on a $2,000 bond.
