Wood County Sheriff’s Report October 25-31, 2017

October 25th

At 2:53 a.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Yantis.

At 10:08 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 2100 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2320 near Mineola, at approximately 11:20 a.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on HWY 154/FM 14 near Quitman; at approximately 1:27 p.m. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 1:33 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass that occurred on CR 4430 near Winnsboro. A Criminal Trespass Warning was issued and the scene was cleared.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 3:10 p.m., in reference to a burglary that occurred on CR 1975 near Yantis. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several items from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 4:20 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated for the night.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 4287 near Winnsboro, at approximately 7:36 p.m. Huy Phan, 39, of Winnsboro, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2205 near Mineola, at approximately 8:10 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Alba, at approximately 9:28 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and cleared the scene.

October 26th

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2320 near Mineola, at approximately 10:14 a.m., in reference to theft. When deputies’ arrived on scene, it appeared that no theft had occurred.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 37 near Quitman, at approximately 11:29 a.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies were advised it was a verbal dispute and the scene was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1684 near Alba, at approximately 1:17 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 1:32 p.m., in reference to an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on CR 1112 near Quitman. A known actor took the car and did not return it. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4165 near Quitman, at approximately 1:37 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies noticed a rear door to be ajar, but nothing appeared to be missing.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 779 near Mineola, at approximately 4:33 p.m., in reference to a burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged entryways and broke into the reporting party’s residence. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 8:07 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3854 near Hawkins, at approximately 8:53 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated for the night.

October 27th

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2225 near Yantis, at approximately 12:06 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to Katy St. near Alba, at approximately 3:59 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2952 near Alba, at approximately 5:43 a.m., in reference to an alarm. When deputies arrived, it appeared the door was not shut completely and it had been opened by the wind.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 7:57 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. When deputies arrived, they found a male, 62, to be deceased. The Justice of the Peace arrived and an autopsy was ordered.

At 10:38 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2088 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 7652 near Hawkins, at approximately 1:46 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole farm equipment from the reporting party’s property. This case is active.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 3:33 p.m., in reference to a theft that occurred on FM 288 near Quitman. Actors, or actors unknown, opened the reporting party’s mail and stole money out of it.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2318 near Mineola, at approximately 4:10 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Hawkins, at approximately 5:58 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Vandre Cole, 19, of Dallas, was arrested for Assault on Security Officer.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 1254 near Mineola, at approximately 8:13 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Actors, or actors unknown, repeatedly come onto the reporting party’s property without consent. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 3448 near Hawkins; at approximately 8:36 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to FM 778 near Quitman; at approximately 9:12 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

October 28th

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on CR 1687 near Alba; at approximately 3:01 a.m. Acey Farris, 55, of Quitman, was arrested for outstanding warrants, Failure to Identify Fugitive Intentionally Give False Information. Vicki Payne, 56, of Alba, was arrested for Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution Known Felon.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2245 near Mineola, at approximately 2:47 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies arrived and the scene was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2754 near Mineola, at approximately 5:55 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and Adult Protective Services was contacted.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 779 near Alba, at approximately 6:05 p.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 7:19 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 515 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3843 near Hawkins, at approximately 9:43 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2503 near Mineola, at approximately 9:54 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Lonnie Carr II, 33, of Mineola, was arrested for Assault.

October 29th

Deputies were dispatched to PR 6778 near Hawkins, at approximately 3:26 a.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies advised the individuals to lower the volume of the music.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on HWY 154/FM 515 near Yantis; at approximately 4:08 a.m. Jerry Frazier, 41, of Quitman, was arrested for Driving While License Invalid.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 9:05 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

At 10:37 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 1545/CR 1540 near Alba.

Deputies responded to a reckless driver on CR 1660 near Alba; at approximately 1:18 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2140 near Quitman; at approximately 2:12 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 312 near Winnsboro, at approximately 4:06 p.m., in reference to a vehicle fire. Perryville Fire Department extinguished the fire. This case has been forwarded to other agency.

At 5:39 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 515 near Winnsboro.

Deputies went out on arrest/warrant service to Lloyd Ave. in Quitman; at approximately 7:16 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies went out on arrest/warrant service to Cheyenne near Quitman; at approximately 7:42 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable o make contact with the individual.

At 8:00 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2966 near Quitman.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 1246 near Quitman; at approximately 10:04 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

October 30th

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2336 near Mineola; at approximately 12:53 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 4579 near Winnsboro; at approximately 7:35 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and it appeared to be a traffic hazard. The vehicle was picked up by Joe’s Wrecker and the roadway was clear.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 37 near Mineola, at approximately 11:35 a.m., in reference to a burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several items from the reporting party’s maintenance building. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1895 near Yantis, at approximately 2:36 p.m., in reference to an inquest. A male 77, was found deceased in his residence. The Justice of the Peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 3:29 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass on CR 3640 near Hawkins. The incident is cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 49 near Mineola, at approximately 4:30 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Parties advised the deputies’ that it was a verbal altercation. Deputies cleared the scene.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Hawkins, at approximately 5:35 p.m., in reference to a vehicle fire. Jarvis Security extinguished the fire and the scene was cleared.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1885 near Yantis, at approximately 8:07 p.m., in reference to a burglary. A known actor stole money from the reporting party’s residence. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 1570 near Alba; at approximately 8:34 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 8:56 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to Price St. in Hawkins, at approximately 10:44 p.m., in reference to shots fired. The actor fled the scene on foot. Richard Smith, 32, of Hawkins, was located and arrested for outstanding warrants, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, Theft, and Evading Arrest/Detention.

October 31st

Deputies were dispatched to FM 515 near Winnsboro, at approximately 10:59 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies made contact with the individual and everything was OK.

At 4:26 p.m., horses were reported out on FM 2869 near Winnsboro.

At 4:26 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 1795 near Hawkins.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on HWY 37 near Quitman; at approximately 7:35 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4691 near Winnsboro, at approximately 10:14 p.m., in reference to a structural fire. The structure appeared to be abandoned and the Fire Marshall was informed of the incident.

Between the dates of October 25th and October 31st, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Police Departments, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Departments, Jarvis Security, and Department of Public Safety.

Between the dates of October 25th and October 31st, the investigators of Wood County filed 14 cases with the District Attorney, obtained 6 arrest warrants and arrested the individuals, and recovered $3,250 worth of stolen property.

Total Jail Count – 148 inmates – 123 males and 25 females.
