Lola Mae (Suggitt) (Crutchfield) Williams, 89, originally from East Texas passed away of natural causes on October 15, 2017 in Wausau, Wisconsin. Lola was born January 27, 1928 to William and Fannie (Slayter) Suggitt, in Denton County, Texas. She is the eldest of 11 children (8 of whom lived to become senior citizens); William Earl Suggitt, Evelyn (George) Seales, Peggy (Jack) Lamb, Marilyn (Sonny) Coker, Eva (Doyle) McKinney, John Suggitt and Ann (Jimmy) Thomas.
Lola married Jessie Oliver Crutchfield (deceased) from Virginia on July 29, 1946 in Longview, Texas. She had a stepson, Graham Crutchfield and four children; Linda (Jim) Brinkman, Tommy Crutchfield, Sarah (Todd) Niesl and Cherri Crutchfield.
On April 1, 1993 Lola married the love of her life; Lee Williams (deceased) from Canton, Texas at the Dallas First Seventh Day Adventist Church where they met. They had many wonderful years together living in Texas, California and Illinois until his death in 2011.
She is predeceased by her husbands; Jessie Crutchfield and Lee Williams, parents; William and Fannie Suggitt, son; Tommy Crutchfield, brother; William Suggitt, sisters; Evelyn Seales, Peggy Lamb, Eva McKinney, and brother-in-law’s; Sonny Coker, Jimmy Thomas and Jack Lamb.
Lola has 10 Grandchildren; Gina (Tim) Van Luven, John (Kylin) Fleischmann, Erin Brinkman, Erika (Isaac) Petersen, Megan(Crutchfield)Avery and Jude (Rachel) Crutchfield, Graham Niesl, Wendy Niesl (Jason Fredericks), Heidi Niesl, Elliot (Lacey) Niesl; 13 Great Grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who were all dear to her.
Lola spent much of her adult life working for a clothing designer in Dallas as a 1st Sample Garment maker until she retired at the age of 72 in Wills Point, Texas with her husband, Lee. She enjoyed 12 years there with most of her siblings, their families, her cousins and friends nearby and then moved to Wisconsin after her husband passed away to be near her daughter, Sarah and her family. She also spent time in Arizona and Utah with her daughter, Linda and her family. The Grandchildren are thankful for the opportunity to get to know her and we all cherish the time we had with her during those years.
Lola’s special interests included sewing, pattern making, crocheting, and knitting. Her favorite pastime was jigsaw puzzles; especially the Thomas Kinkaid pictures. She was a strong advocate for eating healthy foods and always wanted fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains at every meal. Of course, a sprinkle or two of “Spike” always made everything taste better! “Dr. Pepper” was her only vice and her favorite Doctor!
Lola was a woman of few words, but when she spoke, you listened. She taught us many of life’s lessons, most that we probably aren’t even aware of and I think that even in death, she is still teaching us a lesson; about priorities and what is most important; not the money you make, the clothes you wear, the items you own or the trips you take; it’s the relationships with those you love and care about. We will miss her.
Visitation with family and friends will be Saturday October 28, 2017, at 2:00 at Beaty Funeral Home, 816 W. Broadway, Winnsboro, TX 75494, with Funeral services following at 3:00 in the Chapel and burial immediately afterword at Smyrna Cemetery in Winnsboro. A reception with dinner will follow in Winnsboro.
