Doris Rawls

Funeral service for Doris Rawls, age 100, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Joe Clark officiating.  Interment will follow at South Liberty Cemetery with Johnny Anderson officiating and with the Harvey/Crusaders Class serving as honorary pallbearers.    Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.  Mrs. Rawls passed away Friday, July 7, 2017, at The Hopkins Place in Sulphur Springs. The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful care of the staff of Hopkins Place for the last six years as well as Vitas Hospice in the last year

 

Mrs. Rawls was born on October 25, 1916 in Wills Point, TX to the parents of Jeff and Bertha Burnett Champion. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Sulphur Springs and retired as a teacher from Hopkins County Outreach for Special Needs.

 

She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Roseann Rawls of Dallas and Reisa Rawls of Middleburg, FL; one son, Reid Rawls (Nancy)  of Sulphur Springs, TX; daughter-in-law, Nancy Sue Rawls of Sulphur Springs; three grandchildren, Ricky Rawls of Dallas, TX, Clarice Taylor of Talpa,TX, and Staci Burkham of Sulphur Springs; seven great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; and sister, Hazel Denver of Winnsboro,TX.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Rodney Rawls; sister, Adeline Haygood.

 

In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Wesley United Methodist Church.
