No More Lights at 19 and I-30

Although started a day later than announce, work has begun to install median curbs and islands on the north and south side of the State Highway 19/Hillcrest at I-30 intersection to help guide drivers as they travel through this interchange. Removal of the flashing caution lights was a first step.

This construction will sometimes require temporary lane closures. Flaggers will be on site to alert drivers to changing road conditions and to guide motorists through the area safely. TxDOT officials anticipate a two-week construction window for this project, weather permitting. With showers and thunderstorms in the forecast for Thursday, some work may be delayed.

Motorists are urged to use alternate travel routes whenever possible while this construction is underway. They should also be prepared to watch for and obey all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also plan for lane closures, and avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
