Peggy Yvonne Sustaire, age 82, of Winnsboro, formerly of Greenwood, passed away in the late morning hours of Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Trinity Mission Nursing Home in Winnsboro, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Peggy was born on February 6, 1935 in Weaver, Texas to Willis and Christine Davis Brewer; she survives. Peggy graduated from Saltillo High School. She married the love of her life and her best friend Pat Nixon Sustaire on August 22, 1953 in Saltillo. Together they spent the next 58 years raising a family and living a lifetime of memories. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2011.
Peggy was a longtime member of the Greenwood Baptist Church. She was a staple of the church. Over the years, Peggy served as Sunday school teacher, organist and pianist, and volunteer nearly every time the doors were open. Peggy worked for 9 years as an aide at Saltillo but her greatest accomplishment in life came as a homemaker. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, and beloved grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed cooking for and taking care of her cherished family.
Peggy is survived by her mother, Christine Brewer of Lubbock; one son, Mark Sustaire, and wife Amy, of Winnsboro; two daughters, Nelda Sustaire Garmon, and husband Kenny, of Saltillo and Patti Sustaire Calderon, and husband Edgar, of Greenwood; grandchildren, Garrett Sustaire, Jordan Sustaire, Rusty Garmon, Ryan Garmon, and wife Cassie, Jaylon Garmon, Angie Pipkin, and husband Patrick, Michael Calderon, Madie Calderon, and Allie Calderon; great-grandchildren, Maysen Pipkin, Kenzi Pipkin, and Nate Garmon; one sister, Patsy Smith, and husband Ralph, of Lubbock; and by a host of other relatives and very special friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pat, and by her father, Willis.
Funeral services for Peggy Sustaire will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Greenwood Baptist Church with Brother Dwayne Goodson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with Jaylon Garmon, Rusty Garmon, Ryan Garmon, Patrick Pipkin, Kenny Smith, and Garrett Sustaire serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Friday evening, at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home.
