Wildcats Track Has Great Start to Season

Wildcats Track Coach Matt Young said his team had a great start to the season at a meet in Denison Thursday evening. He said he was proud of the way the Wildcats competed.

Coach Young said Ian Blanch had a personal record of 44-feet-8 inches in the shotput. D’Idric Dugan also placed in the top six in the shot. In the discus, Josh Thompson threw 123 feet, Gideon Gregory went 110 feet and D.J. Hoppe had 105 feet as all three placed.

Landry Tyson was second in the high jump at 5-foot ten-inches, he won the 300 meter hurdles in 43.7 seconds and ran a low 17 second time in the 110 meter hurdles.

Tyson Goodson was second in the triple jump at 42-feet-5 inches and set a personal record of 5-feet 8 inches in the high jump.

Landon Thornton won the 3200-meter run and he placed in the 1600 meter run. Peyton Vickery won the 1600 meter run and was third in the 3200-meter run. Eduardo Ramirez was fourth in the 3200-meter run. Eli Sellers ran a 2-min-10 second 800-meter race into a strong wind. Sellers also placed in the 1600-meter run.

Terrell Turman ran a low 16 second time in the 110-meter hurdles. Lawrence Worth ran 11.6 seconds in the 100 meter dash. Coach Young said the 4X400 meter relay team of Landry Tyson, Lawrence Worth, Tiesan Goodson and Terrell Turman finished off a good night. C

oach Young said he was excited with how the team started the season. Next up is the Sulphur Springs Meet next Friday. Teams joining the Wildcats include Denison, Sherman, Paris, Mt. Pleasant and North Forney. Field events start at 4 p.m. with running events beginning at around 6:45p.m. A JV meet will be held next Thursday at the SSHS Track Complex.
