Both the Saltillo Lions and Lady Lions got victories at Fannindel Tuesday night.
The Lions won 82-59 They led 23-19 after the first quarter, 42-31 at halftime and 61-45 after three quarters. With the win, the Lions remain unbeaten in district play with a 5-0 record. Their season record is 15-14. Mathew Gurley led the Lions with 14 points, Ryan Prewett had 12 points and Michael Simmons 11 points. Other Saltillo scorers included Trevor Moore, Logan Camp and Clayton Wilson with 9 points apiece, Walker McGill and Lyle Bench with 7 points each and Dakota Patridge and Branson McGill with 2 points apiece. The Lions play next at Miller Grove Friday night.
The Saltillo Lady Lions blitzed Fannindel, 68-34 Tuesday night. The Lady Lions outscored Fannindel in each quarter. The Lady Lions were led in scoring by Melissa Groenewold with 16 points. Jocelyn Ochoa had 12 points. Madison Simmons scored 9 points. Rainie English, Tori Mobley and Christie Gurley had 5 points each, Sienna Collins had 3 points. Melissa Tawil and Ana Gallegos had 2 points each and Brenda Castro scored one point.
