Also:

  • Watch for our Resume Maker tutorial in May, before the Workforce sponsored Job Fair; or come in now and spend some time polishing up your resume with our free online service.
  • Computer Coach Sessions are going very well.  We are happy to assist our community in their online needs.  Make your appointment today for 10 minutes of individual help on the computer.
  • Mark your calendars for Summer Reading Club Registration for June 8 at 6pm with food, petting zoo, book bag, and reading log!  The Summer Reading Club encourages kids to read whatever they want, which helps instill a love of reading for recreation.  Reading in the summer also improves language skills, keeps a young brain engaged and open to learn, grow and develop.

Do you love your job?  If so, do you enthusiastically tell people about it?  If you are excited about what you do, others will take notice.  We should equip ourselves to be proud of our job.

My Texas Library Journal magazine this month talks about leaders and owning your profession. I thought this was a great topic for everyone to hear.  Everyone is a potential leader. Demonstrating enthusiasm to take on new tasks, or by leading or managing changes, you are practicing leadership.  You make a choice to make things happen or make a difference.

I challenge you this year to seize the opportunity to learn, to mature and make unique contributions to your organization and beyond.  Broaden your horizons, challenge yourself, surprise yourself! There is room for growth every day, sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.  Never measure your unlimited potential by your limited expectations.

Grow and be energized, show the world what you see and what you have, and most of all…smile!

The Public Library is located at 611 North Davis St. and our number is 903-885-4926.

We are open 6 days a week:  MTWF 9-6, TH 11-8 and Sat 9-1.
