Funeral service for “Mama” Lola Cowling, age 87, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 10 A.M., Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs with Pastor Lee Huff officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving, Texas with Joshua Bain, Jeremy Thompson, Kevin Davis and Bobby Clark serving as pallbearers. Daniel Davis, Seth Bain and Brent Bain serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, January 18, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cowling passed away Monday, January 16, 2017, at her residence. She was born July 4, 1929 in Rufe, Oklahoma the daughter of Amster and Mary Elizabeth (Davis) Bowen. She married Edward Ray Davis on December 19, 1946 in Mangum Oklahoma. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs and a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Bain and spouse Bill, Dena Michelle Speed and fiancé Bobby Clark, Daughter in Law Diana Davis; Brother, Shorty Bowen and wife Vera; Grandchildren, Seth Bain, Brent Bain, Jeremy Thompson, Kevin Davis, Caitlin Brown, Brittani Davis; 8 great grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren.
Lola was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter Kathy Johns and son Daniel Ray Davis.
