It was a tough way to lose a ball game for the Saltillo Lions’ basketball team playing at home Tuesday night against Martin’s Mill. Martin’s Mill hit a 28-foot, three-point basket at the buzzer to take a 45-42 win. Saltillo led after the first and second quarter and trailed by only one point going into the fourth quarter.
The Lions were led by Lyle Bench who scored 17 points. Michael Simmons added 12. Trevor Moore had 6, Matt Gurley 3 and Branson McGill and Ryan Prewitt had 2 apiece. Saltillo is now 0-1 for the season.
The Lions JV won over Martin’s Mill 50-37. They were led by Levi Hoover with 18 points.
They will play at Avinger Friday at 6 p.m.
