The first-ever “Salute to Veterans” BBQ cook-off is set for Friday and Saturday November 11 and 12 on the grounds of the Hopkins County Civic Center. A number of cooking teams have already signed up, but there’s still room for more teams with a $50 entry fee. The public is invited to come for food, music and fun. Cost for all-you-can-eat BBQ is $10 adult and $5 for kids under 11. Children under age 5, disabled Veterans and active-duty Veterans will eat free. All proceeds from the Salute will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. Contest judges will be from local BBQ restaurants, and the public can decide the People’s Choice winner.
