Lady Cats Defeat Greenville, Tie School Record for Wins in a Season

The Lady Cats’ volleyball team tied the school record for victories in a season Tuesday evening as they defeated Greenville on the road, 3-0. Score was 25-23, 25-12 and 25-12. Lady Cats Coach Justin Maness called it a big win that sets the team up well for the playoffs.

He said the offense flowed against the Lady Lions and the Lady Cats also served well Mieke VanBenthem and Kaylee Jefferson led the Lady Cats with 9 kills each. Autumn Tanton added six and Rita Hill 5. Tori Moore had 27 assists. Imani Taylor led the team with three service aces and Tanton and Moore had 1 apiece. Leading the Lady Cats with digs were Anden Hammack, Taylor and Maggie McGlammery with six apiece.

The Lady Cats have a bye Friday and will play next at home against Pine Tree next Tuesday night. The Lady Cats are now 7-2 in district play. They are 28-9 for the season. Last year’s team set the school record for wins going 28-14 and again the Lady Cats tied that record Tuesday night.
