There seems to be depth like never before for the Lady Cats’ softball program. The varsity, featuring only two seniors, is currently 29-6 and getting ready for a third round regional quarterfinal game this week. The Lady Cats program also featured two very talented JV teams this season.

The JV Blue Team won the district championship and was undefeated in district play. Their only loss of the season was to a ranked varsity team, New Diana, in a tournament.

The JV Gold just had a few losses and they too were undefeated in district play. Their coach, Chris Valdovinos, says the two JV teams have lots of good players.

Three JV players were promoted to the varsity after the JV season was finished. Included were pitcher Bailey Haggerty, who has won all three of the Lady Cats’ playoff games, and courtesy runners Macee Hollins and Mia Pharis. Coach Valdovinos says he was also impressed with JV players Kate Potts, Jackie Semlar, Karlee Adams, Maddie Millsap and Sierra Smith. With only the two seniors graduating from the varsity, Coach Valdovinos believes there will be tremendous competition for spots on the varsity next year. Coach V says the more competition there is, the better the team will be. He wraps up by saying the future looks bright for the Lady Cats’ softball program.
