Lady Cats long jumper and triple jumper Imani Taylor qualified for an area meet next week in both events at the district meet Wednesday and Thursday in Pine Tree. Taylor won the long jump competition and she finished second in triple jump. She leaped her way into first place at one point before a Mt. Pleasant jumper won the event on her final jump. Taylor was the defending district champ in triple jump. Hurdler Abbi Baier also qualified for area in two events, the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. She won both races. Mackenzie Moore also qualified by finishing fourth in the 110-meter hurdles. Moore stumbled early in the race but battled back to qualify. Faith Hatley qualified in the 300-meter hurdles with a third place finish. She was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles to earn alternate status. The Lady Cats 4 X 100-meter relay team also ran fast enough to make alternate.
The Lady Cats finished seventh in district. The area meet is in Whitehouse on April 21.
